After six months of my ligament injury, I started playing soccer again about two months ago. I play around once or twice per week. Man...it has been hard to get back into shape. I do not think I have ever struggled this much to get into decent shape. I am getting old I guess. I remember when I was a kid I used to get injured, be out for a week or two and then right back to playing. I could stay without playing for several weeks, sometimes months and then pick my shape right back up. It is interesting, how, we humans age. I read an article a couple of weeks ago about lobsters. Scientists have supposedly found out that they do not age and do not die unless someone or something kills them. I would like to be a lobster, not age, always be in shape, not get injured, and travel the world. Later on I saw a video on motivation. They mentioned in it, that the only way to achieve a goal is if you want it as bad as you want to breathe. I am going to start applying that to my everyday life; "want it as bad as you want breathing". Try it! It might work for you.

  1. Funny that I should read your post to find out about lobsters-I didn't know! And I'm in the middle of reading Tuck Everlasting with a group of young students that touches on your wish. Have you read it? Thanks for sharing & best wishes for good soccer!

  2. Great insight and information. I had no idea about lobsters. Maybe scientist are studying that element that makes them endure. Ligament surgery is tough but it sounds like you want to come back. You may not like your fitness level yet...but you're at it which is great! My daughter just had knee surgery in December. I'm hoping she's back at it by summer. Your activity gives me hope.

  3. I like the crab concept! Some crabs aren't so lucky though! I've been trying to get into shape too. People say they wish they were the same shape as they were in high school and I never understood why they couldn't just stay the same and keep up their fitness beyond high school. I understand now!

  4. I had NO idea about lobsters. Perhaps they should be my "patron animal" as I age!

  5. This was a very random, awesome paragraph! You made me laugh!!! We are NOT old, Isai....give us a few more years! I'm so happy you've returned to your sport and I'm jealous...because soccer is so much fun, but it's hard to play. And wanting something as bad as breathing???? I'm adopting this quote, too. Thanks for sharing.
